Glass is generally heavier than acrylic sheet. This is due to the differences in their densities. Glass has a density of approximately 2.5 g/cm³, while acrylic has a density of around 1.18 g/cm³. Given these figures, for the same volume, glass will weigh significantly more than acrylic. For instance, a 1 cm³ cube of glass would weigh about 2.5 grams, whereas an identical cube of acrylic would weigh only about 1.18 grams. This difference in weight is a direct result of the atomic composition and molecular structure of the materials. Glass is primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO2), which is heavier than the polymers that make up acrylic.
